Trials with the first generation of turf white clover were carried out at STRI Bingley in UK already 6-7 years ago. The trial was done on behalf of DLF-TRIFOLIUM and showed very promising results demonstrating a longer season with a fresh and healthy green appearance of the lawn compared to mixtures of pure grasses.
In spring 2004 a new trial with the new microclovers where established to study the effect of microclover on the appearance and growth of amenity mixtures with and without perennial ryegrass. The plots have been evaluated during two growing seasons and the positive effect of the microclover on visual merit and control of diseases are obvious.
